Each book focuses on 5 main writing genres: Procedure Recount Exposition (Persuasive) Narratives Reports. There are 10 units of work in each book and each unit deals with 11 main elements: 1. Reading passages written in one of the five writing genre 2. Speaking and listening activities based on the genre. Focusing on activities for the whole class and activities for working in pairs. 3. Analysis of the structure of the writing genre. 4. Reading activities focus on developing comprehension at 3 different levels: reading for information, reading for understanding and application of understanding. 5. Vocabulary activities focus on extending word meaning, word building and activities include dictionary work, antonyms/synonyms, alphabetical order, anagrams, word searches, crosswords and word worms. 6. Grammar activities which focus on parts of speech or punctuation. 7. Spelling pages focus on specific spelling rules e.g. plurals. 8. Writing Framework/Template to guide the children in perfecting the specific genre. This allows the children to be creative and imaginative while still providing the children with a structure needed to enable them write in a genre. 9. Writing activities. 10. Editing and Proofreading activities. 11. Two page assessment of the entire unit.

Our Irish made bookcovering is strong and durable, it is designed to protect against spills, wear and tear and will extend the life of book.

Delivery rates to Ireland are as follows:

When you order online and select to have your order delivered it will be dispatched by DPD on a next day service Monday - Friday. Our normal turnaround on orders is 3 - 5 days ( 8 - 12 days in July / August) and you will receive an email confirming your goods have left the Opening Minds warehouse and have been collected by DPD.
A separate email will be sent by DPD confirming your tracking number and you can track your delivery online @ www.dpd.ie.
Collection Network

To make collection of your order easy this year Opening Minds have partnered with local retail outlets throughout Ireland.
We have almost 200 collection points from where you can collect your order. Simply select your local collection point prior to checkout.
Please note that the maximum delivery charge is 3.95 when you opt to collect from one of our collection points.
Once your order is ready for dispatch from our warehouse you will receive an email advising that it has left. All queries with regard to your order should be directed to Opening Minds at 01 8353411.

To avail of this service simply select your nearest Parcel Motel at checkout.
Opening Minds will then dispatch your order to the Parcel Motel you have selected.
Parcel Motel will send you a text with your unique secure PIN number when your order arrives at your selected Parcel Motel.
Your order is now ready for collection at Parcel Motel. Simply key in your phone number followed by the PIN number and the door will open for you.
Your order must be collected within 48 hours of receiving the PIN number.

Second-Hand Books

Opening Minds have sold both new and second-hand schoolbooks since we were established in 1986.
We stock secondhand books in-store and online. Our online stock is quality controlled prior to dispatch and we believe that you will be happy with the quality of book, however if you feel the book does not meet your requirements we will be happy to accept it for refund.
Opening Minds are now purchasing second-hand schoolbooks. We accept current edition, good quality textbooks at any of our branches or our warehouse in Ashbourne.
